What is Fennec’s Fivefold?
Thirteen boxes. Every roll counts.
Each turn you roll five dice up to three times, holding the ones you like, then score the result in one of thirteen boxes. Every box is filled exactly once, so the game is about where to spend each roll as much as what you roll.
Two bonuses raise the stakes. Score 63 or more across Ones to Sixes for 35 more. And once you have 50 for five of a kind, every further five of a kind earns 100.

- Each further five of a kind earns 100 while your Five of a Kind box holds 50. It is a joker: it goes in its own upper box if open, else any open lower box at full value, else a 0 in an upper box.
- If the dice don’t fit the box you pick, it scores 0.

A little history
A classic by another name.
You probably know this game already, under the name on a box. It comes from the same family as Yacht and poker dice, and the boxed version became a household favorite in the 1950s.
Fennec’s Fivefold is the classic game, renamed for the Feral Worlds menagerie. The rules are the published ones, down to the joker rule for a second five of a kind.
Fun facts
- There are thirteen boxes and each is filled exactly once, so a game is exactly thirteen turns.
- Score 63 or more in Ones to Sixes for a 35 bonus. 63 is exactly three of each number.
- Once you have 50 for five of a kind, every further five of a kind earns 100.
- Each turn you roll five dice up to three times, holding the ones you like.

- 2

Three rolls
How does a turn work?
Scoring
Thirteen boxes. Two bonuses.
Ones to Sixes count only the dice showing that number. The lower boxes need a pattern, and score 0 when the dice don’t make it.
| Box | Looks like | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Fours (three 4s) | 12 | |
| Sixes (four 6s) | 24 | |
| Upper bonus: 63 or more in Ones to Sixes | +35 | |
| Three of a Kind | 20 | |
| Four of a Kind | 23 | |
| Full House | 25 | |
| Small Straight | 30 | |
| Large Straight | 40 | |
| Five of a Kind | 50 | |
| Chance | 23 | |
| Each further five of a kind | +100 |
Our Classic rules: Three and Four of a Kind and Chance score all five dice. A further five of a kind is a joker: its own upper box if open, else any open lower box at full value, else a 0 in an upper box. The bonus 100 needs 50 in the Five of a Kind box, not a 0.
Strategy
Play it smart. Then play it feral.
Tip 1
Three of each up top.
Three of each number is exactly 63, the bonus line. Four 5s or 6s buy you slack elsewhere.
Tip 2
Hold your matches.
A pair or three of a kind is the start of the upper boxes, the kinds, a full house and five of a kind at once.
Tip 3
Roll for free.
Holding four of a kind, or a straight you already have? Roll the last die: you keep what you have if it misses.
Tip 4
Plan your zeros.
Spend a bad turn on Ones, or on Five of a Kind late in the game, before giving up a big box.
